Welcome to Dult Hoists, Winches, Cranes
An electric chain hoist is a powered device used to lift, lower, and sometimes move heavy loads horizontally. Unlike manual hoists that rely on human effort, electric chain hoists operate using an electric motor, offering higher speed, greater lifting capacity, and enhanced safety.
Understanding how an electric chain hoist works starts with knowing its main parts:
Electric Motor: The heart of the hoist. It converts electrical energy into mechanical motion.
Chain: Usually made of high-strength alloy steel, the load chain loops around the lifting sprocket and supports the load.
Lifting Mechanism: Includes the gearbox and the load chain wheel (sprocket) that drives the chain.
Electromagnetic Brake: A key safety feature. When the power is cut off, the brake automatically engages to hold the load securely in place. Electromagnetic brakes are fast-acting, reliable, and maintenance-friendly.
Hook and Load Block: Secure the hoisted item and attach it to lifting slings or other fixtures.
Upper & Lower Limit Switches: These prevent the load from being lifted too high or lowered too far, protecting both the hoist and the operator from over-travel damage.
Pendant Control or Wireless Remote: Allows the operator to control lifting and lowering operations safely from a distance.
Running Mechanism: Electric trolley or manual trolley, enables horizontal movement along the beam

Power Input: The hoist receives power from an electric source—typically three-phase or single-phase AC power.
Motor Activation: When the user presses the “up” or “down” button, the motor starts turning.
Gear Reduction: The motor’s speed is reduced through a gearbox to increase torque and provide smooth lifting.
Load Chain Movement: The sprocket, connected to the gearbox, pulls the load chain upward or lets it out, depending on the direction selected.
Load Lifting: The chain moves around the sprocket and lifts or lowers the load via the load hook.
Safety systems like limit switches and electromagnetic brakes ensure that lifting is controlled and secure.
Applications of Electric Chain Hoists
Electric chain hoists are used in various industries, including:
Manufacturing and assembly lines
